How to survive in the bush - Genius Hour by Josh

Thank you to Josh who presented his Genius Hour on how to survive in the wild. We learnt a lot about bush safety and how to remain calm in risky situations.

We really liked the physical presentation. It was bold, colourful and included really good information.

Well done Josh!

Tuakana Teina

Rūma Tekau Ma Wha has turned it on twice in one week. Here we are helping some younger students from Rūma Wha with their catching. It was intense! Little people working with bigger people, some of the younger ones were bigger than the older ones! But lots of good fun and relationship building throughout the school.

Tino pai rawa atu Rūma Tekau Ma Wha and Rūma Wha! Keep up the awesome work!

Swimming Legends!

It's great to see Rūma tekau ma wha (Room 14) helping out the junior students with their swimming. They listened to Miss Boaler explain how they could help and worked really hard to get the technique right. This is just one way we show tuakana teina in the school. We look forward to helping Room 4 practice catching on Friday.

The Mission

As my lungs grasped for air, I thought to myself how did get in this situation. To think 3 weeks ago I was training for this BIG mission!
I have to try on all the gear the; parachutes, titan all the straps, fit both helmets and check that the walkie talkies work

Then we march onto the plane....

Megan's Sky Diving Story

City Jump

As they gathered the gear, it got darker. The it got the more they wanted to collapse but they couldn't stop now. Bombs dropped behind them and smoke cover the sky. They were running as fast as they could, trying not to trip over the twigs that they were stuck in the ground! They finally got to the plane and fell down on the ground puffing and panting. They instantly fell asleep.

To be continued...

Pou (Totem Pole)

In Room 14 we are designing a Pou (Totem Pole) that will go into our native area. We started off by looking at some designs to get some ideas.

Then we had to sand it back so that it was nice and smooth. Here are a few pictures of us sanding.

Our next step is to paint a white base coat...Watch this space for more pictures of our progress.
